What May Cause Divorce – Lack of Love, Cheating, Differences
Posted on June 5th, 2010 No commentsDivorce affects nearly fifty percent of marriages today . It’s really nothing new, this statistic has been steadily rising over the past few hundred years .
While at one point, men and women may have been able to overlook the issues that served as the main causes of divorce, the rising divorce rate indicates that they are no longer able to do so .
The causes of divorce vary, and they can be extremely personal for the couple .
Divorce has become quite commonplace and it’s really nothing to be ashamed of, we just have to make sure it is for the right reasons .
Irreconcilable Differences
One common cause of divorce is what is officially referred to as irreconcilable differences . The reason this particular cause is so common is because it really covers alot of ground, while at the same time leaving the actual reasons wide open . Oftentimes, this reason is sited by couples who married young and no longer have anything in common .
It can also be something very important like disagreeing on whether to have children . It could just mean that the couple argues too much . Irreconcilable differences is a controversial term when it comes to being a cause of divorce, some would say it makes getting divorce to easy, it’s up to the couple to make sure that the term is not abused and used lightly .
Domestic Violence as a Cause of Divorce
Domestic Violence is a very serious cause of divorce and has become more common in the past fifty years or so . Domestic violence is something that few people used to talk about because it was considered shameful .
Women have a lot more support nowadays and feel more confident coming forward and claiming domestic violence as a cause of divorce, and that’s a very positive step in the right direction .
Cheater, Cheater, Pumpkin Eater
Cheating, or having an affair, is yet another major cause of divorce . This is devastating for the marriage, and while many couples are able to get through such a situation with counseling and communication, for other couples, an affair is the last straw . For many people, cheating is the worst kind of betrayal and something they just can’t get past, for them trust is everything and this becomes a very good reason for divorce .
For Better Or For Worse
Regardless of what the causes of a divorce are, the most important thing of all is that the divorce accomplishes what it sets out to accomplish . For some couples that just can’t bear to be in the same room as the person they are married to, divorce becomes the solution and levels the playing field, sometimes even bringing them closer together again .
There are also those that just want the divorce so badly, they never want to see the other person again . But if such tensions must persist, it is better that they do so outside of a marriage rather than within one .
